I don't think Maxim Singapore is doing the magazine justice, especially in the photography department. It may not be fair to base the whole magazine just on one bad issue, but that's the point of publications: One good issue would hook readers to continue buying the next month, but a bad one is enough for readers to swear off Maxim, at least for the next year.
The issue in question is February 2007. I got it as a door-gift in some event I attended. The girls were mediocre (some Thai chicks, and some Dutch-Chinese), the photography and photoshop were just plain unprofessional. Take for example the Thai chick, they pay so much attention to the face, but the fingers looked like they have some skin disease (brown patches of stuff?!!!).
Another Thai chick was sticking her ass out, but her ass look sooo unnatural, more like >. Photoshop butt-lift gone wrong? Even if the picture really turned out like that, they should touch up to make it look less repulsive.
One biggest boo-boo is when the Thai chick was doing the "look over the shoulder" shot. Her arms were contorted in an awkward position that shows her shoulder BONES instead of that graceful twist. Does skeleton turn you on?!?!?!?! This picture makes me cringe more than anything else.
Another one was the Dutch-Chinese chick, her panties were too loose and it makes these nasty folds. Can't Maxim at least provide clothes that fit a model for a photoshoot?!!!
Gargh, Maxim Singapore sucks. Attention to details is next to none and I don't know how a magazine like that survive in the market. Oh I know, maybe Singaporeans don't have much media choices, since a majority of the publications are produced by "media mogul" Singapore Press Holdings. So however sucky they are, there will still people buying them. FHM Singapore is way better though.
