iPhone

The long-awaited iPhone started selling yesterday in the US. As expected, lines have been forming outside Apple stores five days before the actual day. I can't deny it's a cool product, just as many other Apple predecesors, but I doubt I'll ever spend US$500 for a phone, especially one from first launch. I will also never line up and camp outside stores overnight to spend money, getting free stuff is a different story haha.

"Look at me, look at me!! I just got two iPhones after lining up for 5 days and nights!" What a loser. The endless and mindless material pursuit of some yuppies really amaze me. Hypes prove that many people are pretty easy to influence (read stupid).

Yuppies, who crave for whatever is in and hip (or whatever their coworker or boss has), are particularly easy to entice to spend disproportionate amount of money on something they don't need, just because they are so freaking materialistic, or insecure, depending on how you look at it.

Just like kids, they like to compare and compete with their peers. ("My car can beat up your car", remember?). But unlike kids, they are free to spend their self-earned money on all sorts of stuff without veto from parents, no matter how unnecessary it may be.

Think I'm too hard on them yuppies? Meet the CaKaLusa here.
